We feel best results occur when parents / whānau, students and teachers work together and support one another in a shared endeavour. The key to the success of this relationship is effective communication.
Our open door policy means that Parents / whānau are free at any time to make an appointment to meet with any of our team at a mutually convenient time.

REPORTING AND INTERVIEW COMMITMENTS
As a school we firmly believe in the importance and value of home-school partnership.
This relationship is a vital link to student engagement and progress.
All schools are required to make two written reports on student achievement and progress per year.
To achieve this parents and students will be required to come to two parent interviews.
At these we will discuss your child’s progress.
PUKEATUA SCHOOL REPORTING CYCLE consists of:
Beginning of Term 2
First learning conversations with parents involves parent/s, student and teacher discussing the written progress report of student progress within the Curriculum. This is held over 2 days with evening/ daytime options. Your child/children share their learning goals.
Beginning of Term 4
Second learning conversations with parents involves parent/s, student and teacher discussing the written progress report of student progress within the Curriculum. This is held over 2 days with evening/ daytime options. Your child/children evaluate how their goals have been going.
This cycle meets the Ministry of Educations legal requirements that the school has to follow. We will need all parents co-operation and commitment in attending these vital parent interviews. All staff are looking forward to meeting parents.
Students who are underachieving Curriculum expectations will be focus students within the class. Regular contact will be made by the classroom teacher.
We emphasise the partnership that exists between home and school in the education of the children. Co-operative efforts between parents and teachers mean children are far more likely to be successful at school.
Regular communication is vital in developing this partnership. We have a variety of ways of communicating with one another. These include:
· Parents and teachers meeting after school for a quick chat, or, if something needs to be talked about in more depth, telephone for an appointment out of class time. Teachers are not available during class time, as they have a responsibility to ensure their full attention is on their class.
· The Principal has an open door policy and if she is in her office she is happy to meet with parents/ caregivers who call in.
If we’re concerned about any aspects of your child’s development, we would contact you for support and advice and we ask that you do the same.
